With five slightly different, but equally unique restaurants, Frenchy’s has been serving up their famous seafood cuisine in Clearwater Beach for decades.
Michael “Frenchy” Preston first vacationed to Clearwater Beach with some friends after high school. He liked it so much that he decided to stay and work at a local restaurant learning every job in the industry. Eight years later, he made his dream a reality and opened his first restaurant in 1981: Frenchy’s Original Cafe, a quaint restaurant on a tiny side street offering fresh seafood and cold drinks.
In order to secure a reliable supply of fresh fish for the café, Frenchy acquired a fleet of fishing boats and eventually established Frenchy's Seafood Company. With these assets in operation, Frenchy's became known for its Super Grouper sandwich, leading to the expansion of five additional restaurants, which also offer original menu items like the smoked fish spread, seafood gumbo and boiled shrimp.
Grouper is the star of the show here. Order an ice cold draft beer and start off with the grouper nuggets. Follow that up with the super grouper sandwich (grilled or lathered in buffalo sauce) for the perfect pre or post beach meal.
