Tampa Bay

J.C. Newman Cigar Company

Founded in 1895 by Julius Caesar Newman, J.C. Newman Cigar Company is the oldest family-owned, premium cigar maker in the United States.

The Place:

Nicknamed El Reloj (Spanish for “the clock”), the cigar factory was the largest in the world at the time of its construction in 1910. It has since been listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is the last-operating cigar factory in the “Cigar City” of Tampa.

The Cigars:

Their world-famous cigar brands include The American, Diamond Crown, Cuesta-Rey, Brick House, Perla del Mar and Quorum; all rolled by hand or hand-operated, antique cigar machines.

Our Recommendation:

Schedule a factory tour to experience a top to bottom exploration of El Reloj where you will learn all about their cigar-making process, the Newman family legacy, the history of Cigar City and so much more.

“This place is iconic. Once you step foot inside, you become completely immersed in the ambiance of true cigar-making. Even if you’re not a cigar fan, this is a must-see and must-smell for all!” – Michael Hinton, Owner Success Manager
